EPA Images is a worldwide visual news provider with a history of documenting the world's breaking news and agenda setting events since 1984. Our compelling photo and video coverage is curated and edited around the clock by our editorial desks across the globe, fueling the newsrooms of the world's major news outlets. As an independent news organization we strive for unbiased coverage and accurate information.

For our editorial team based in Cairo we are looking for an Editor (m/f/d).

Your tasks will be the following:

Editing, captioning and processing pictures and other visual content in the systems and platforms of the company
The picture editor will be involved in EPA Images Social Media platforms workflow by publishing and assisting as required by the Editorial Management team
Working with the internal EPA Images platforms and systems in order to keep track of coverages, pictures and other journalistic materials
Working closely within the team to monitor and help improve the overall quality
Monitoring of news Worldwide according to the Editorial Management instructions

Your profile

A minimum of two years experience in photo editing is required
Proficient knowledge of photo edition software
Able to work in teams or independently
Profound interest in news and journalistic topics and excellent news sense
Knowledge of news media environment
This is a position in the English language. Fluency in other languages would be a plus
Willingness to work flexibly in shifts (incl. night shifts and weekends)
Flexibility, ability to work according to the editorial need and under time-pressure

About us

The European Pressphoto Agency B.V. (EPA) was founded in 1984 by seven European news agencies motivated by what they saw as a lack of alternatives to the British/American-centric picture services offered at the time.

In early 2003 EPA successfully made its service available to the worldwide market, beginning its global operations. In 2014 EPA also launched a global video service. Along with the coverage from its shareholder countries, EPA has expanded its service to include its own coverage of North America, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. It also relies on suppliers to cover Latin America (via Agencia EFE), the Nordic countries and Oceania.

With headquarters in Frankfurt am Main, EPA has a permanent network of over 130 visual journalists worldwide and an extensive list of regular stringers.

The photo and video production is supported by photo and video editors in Tokyo, Bangkok, Frankfurt, Madrid, Cairo, Washington and Los Angeles, while EPA’s current Sales and Business Development team is spread across multiple locations in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Cologne, London, Paris, Belgrade and Cairo.
