The European Pressphoto Agency (EPA Images), a global provider of news images, is hiring a full-time regional visual journalist (m/f/d) based in Los Angeles, covering California State (US), occasionally travelling to other US states or major international events abroad.
In your role, you will contribute to EPA Images, a company founded by leading European news agencies 40 years ago that has a team of 130+ visual journalists and editors spread across the globe. Photography is the core of our business, which then expanded to video ten years ago. We are currently building on that with new multimedia capabilities and products.
You will be responsible not only for covering major events and urgent breaking news across this territory but also for coordinating closely with the U.S. West Coast Regional Chief and the North America team to shape and execute coverage priorities. You will also play a key role in balancing daily assignments with larger planned projects, ensuring that our output meets the agency’s global standards while reflecting the unique importance of this region.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Covering News & Features: Photographic and video coverage of major news, sports, business, entertainment and features, working closely with our U.S. West Coast Regional Chief.
- News Gathering: Proactively monitor news sources, including social media, TV, and online media, as well as own sources to identify and respond to developing stories.
- Collaborating: Work closely with colleagues across North America, globally and with our editorial teams at headquarters in Frankfurt, in coordination with the U.S. West Coast Regional Chief.
- Building Networks: Develop and maintain strong contacts in Los Angeles to secure comprehensive coverage and exclusive access to key events.
- Researching: Collect background information to improve headlines and captions from a journalistic point of view.
- Storytelling: Research and produce compelling subjects for feature multimedia packages.
- Assignments: Producing photographic and videographic assignments, both editorial and commercial, as requested by EPA.
